Well my 6 week experience with Alaskas Sockeye salmon run has now come to a close and I am back in my home fishing turf.
What have I learned from my experience?
1:Alaska is the holy grail for any outdoor enthusiast.
2:Alaska is the homeland of any insect that bites and makes you itch
3:There are much more salmon in the ocean that I ever would have imagined
I only got to go fishing 5 times, but those times were amazing in that I got to catch northern pike and king salmon on my 5 weight fly rod! That was so much fun especially since up there was my first time fly fishing ever. I caught my first king salmon, at king salmon creek in king salmon alaska. And the like were caught at like lake. Who woulda thought you could catch like at like lake?
Anyways I've got a lot of reading ahead of me to catch up on what's been going on around here. One awesome thing that I also gained from my experience was a connection for the freshest Sockeye salmon you can get. I worked for a very small company, the owner is the captain of a hill better, owns his own processing plant, and also sells his catch directly to the consumer. Being a small plant we were able to process and freeze all of the salmon the same day it was caught, which is something that no big processing plant was able to do because of the enormous amounts of fish being delivered to them daily. So if anyone is interested in fresh wild Alaskan Sockeye salmon, feel free to message me or text me at 801-674-5484. The name is Allen (:
