Hit the lake at 6:30 this morning. Slight chop on the water and surface temp was 70.5. Caught several kitties in 20-24" range. Decided to cross the lake to the Knolls. Same story. More cookie cutters! Where in the crap are the big cats? It's like a whole age class of fish are missing. Tried chub, carp and white bass for bait. Didn't seem to be any preference. 20 plus fish caught. Good day fishing but very disappointing just the same. Might try golfing!

Hey, I hear ya man. It is as if every cat over 28 inches has moved to a new home. I have caught hundreds of catfish this summer and the biggest ones are all in the mid-20s. I've tried every "hole" I know of that has produced in the past -- nothing contest worthy.

The water temp has been consistently right around 75 degrees most of the summer. I was out on Monday and the channel was at 69 degrees and the open sea was in the lower 70s. I'm backing off for a few days hoping this colder weather will drop the water temp and trigger a feeding frenzy of bigger fish. Wishful thinking??

The big guy with the tube claims some of the best cattin' is in the fall when the water cools... but then what does he know about fishin'??[]

The 30+ inchers will come on strong Oct. 16th -- day after the contest closes.[]

Golf is starting to appeal to me too... or, maybe it's time to break out the .22-250 and start harassing coyotes.

Keep the faith guys, sometime something will change and you'll find the big boys... If not come up north and fish with me... Get that one from across the line... not that I'm finding much bigger than 28 either, but thought I'd offer.. Later J
