Echo Ice Access?
#1
I was hoping to get some clarification from any frequent Echo fisherman. I fished the reservoir over the summer once out of my kayak, parking near an access point. The next time I went I didn’t try it. There are now signs everywhere saying that there is no public access from the road, only at the camping and marina area.
I really want to ice fish there this season, but I’m not sure what the access rules are during the winter. I plan on calling the DWR too to see what they have to say about it.
Thanks

I was up there a few weeks ago and the gate to the resort and boat ramp was locked. There were people still parked in the pull-offs down towards the dam and fishing from shore though. I assume you should still be able to park and walk down from there to ice fish. These aren't usually considered a fee area unless there are restrooms, etc.

[#800000]There are walk-on access areas to the reservoir in the winter from several pull offs along the east side of the reservoir; no fee required. You can also walk through a small gate space in the fence at Echo Resort. Snowmobile access is limited to an area along the old railroad track just south of Echo Resort and from a beach concession about 1.8 miles south of ERI . The ERI and beach concession area parking is NOT plowed in the winter. And since the better fishing is at the dam end of the reservoir, you probably don't want to walk on from the beach concession area.[/#]
