Strawberry Thursday Night.. ALL NIGHT

Well.. heading to the berry Thursday to camp out all night and fish. I was looking forward to it until I hear of "Arctic Air" cosuming Utah and extreme cold temps. Anyone been up there at night the last couple of days? Just curious how cold it's getting up there. I assume -20's and so on.

hah, that is what it gets in heber, strawberry pobably gets a ton colder, i would suggest a heater,lol.

Oh yeah.. 2 heaters.. the shack.. the snowmobile.. the works. Done it before and we usually enjoy ourselves. Fishing is usually good. We will see if history repeats!

I went up to strawberrry last friday night. We got there at 7:00 PM and fished all night. We had a 6 man tent and a propane heater. While we were fishing it wasn't cold, but when we tried to get a little shut eye for a few hours we got pretty cold. The fishing was really good. We fished by the marina. We caught 18 throughout the night. I can't stress it enough, you have to have a vexilar or marcum fish finder. If you don't have one, sale something or take out a loan so you can have one, its worth it. We would have caught maybe 5 without ours. Use glow in the dark stuff. The bite is very light. Use the bobber technique, it helps a ton.

I use the spring bobbers and the bobber trick. Both work awesome if you ask me. I personally like the little spring bobbers, especially if the weather doesn't cooperate w/ the ice hole (i.e. windy). They have their flaws if you don't keep em' clean though. Gotta be quick to catch the line after it breaks!

Give us a report as soon as you return. I am headed up early Friday a.m. and would like to know about the snow/slush/ice conditions on the ice. I would like to take my ATV to tow my sled, but not if I will be spending the day digging it out. I am getting waaaayyyy too old for that. Hope you didn't freeze. Mr. J.

We fished up there last weekend and there was lots of snow at Chicken Creek East. We saw two or three four wheelers get stuck about 10 feet out of the parking lot. Once you get on the ice there was about six to ten inches of snow. When we were walking from the parking lot to the ice we fell in several times into snow that was almost up to my waist. I don't know how the marina or other areas with access are but there was lots of snow when I went and it has snowed since. I did find two slushy places in Jakes Bay that had three or four inches of slush with a couple inches of snow on top of that. Good luck if you take ATV's because it may be tough going.
