Fish Lake koke strikeout
#1
Fished Fish Lake on my own yesterday 8:30-1:30.
I only fished for kokes during the lunch hour and in retrospect I should of started first thing for kokes.
I ran a dodger 16" above a tiny jig with a pink maggot.
I was over 89' fow and jigged the entire column.
Had four lookers come in to investigate my offering but could not entice a single hit.
Absolutely beautiful day on rock solid ice and ended up
with 29 perch and 15 trout consisting of a rainbow/splake/tiger mix.
Totally worth the six hour drive to be at such a fantastic area that always produces fine fishing.

* I took a rifle so I could go bunny blasting on the way home. Found a really nice spot with lots of tall sage.
In 1.5 miles I only busted out two measly Jacks and missed the only shot I had....
Where did all the Jacks go?

Looks like a good time, too bad about the no koke thing. They are hard to target under ice.

I should have taken you for good luck!
Would you have went?
For you it would have been a 9 hour drive and I should not have assumed you would not want to drive that far for tiny perch. The perch I caught are just a tad smaller then the ones you've been icing at Cascade.....

Actually, I was waiting by the phone for your call, but alas, it never came! Not sure I could have gone anyway, next time.

Sounds like a good trip, so it was six hours for you to get there? That's a long haul. Guess I'd tack another 1.5 hours to that so it would be painful. Put in for a deer tag down there this year so I may have my first introduction to the area. May have to take the toon and a rod or two with me. Later J

It is about 2:45 min each way but I call it a 6 hour round trip.
I'd rather be at Powell but FL ties for second place.

Where did all the Jacks go?

Last year they were lousy down there
I think the cycle peaked and we are at the start of it again. We don't even see many now driving at night.
