Deer Creek 3/31
#1
Fished Deer Creek from about 7a.m. to 2 p.m.

Trolled around for while with little luck until coming to the train side of the reservoir about 1/4 - 1/2 mile from the dam at about 9:30.

Started to get bit pretty regularly on a silver and green Criplure trolled at about 1.3-1.5 mph. I was out about 100 feet with a small 1/8 oz weight in front of the lure to get it down. I assume I was at about 8-12 feet.

The fish were hitting very hard, but they were just barely hooked. I had to really loosen up the drag a work them in slowly not to loose them.

Landed about 7 in total and lost about 7 more the 2 in the picture were about 17" and 18"

All fish were very thick and healthy.

I was originally planning to keep these fish but then realized I didn't have my knifes in my tackle box I left them with my ice fishing gear, so out of the live well and back to the lake they went.

[#0000FF]Nice report. Glad you got some nice ones. The lack of ice on Deer Creek this winter made for less pressure on the fish.

One word of caution. Trout are tender and regulations say that once you have them in a live well or fish basket you are not allowed to release them.
