Utah lake 4/10
#1
So I went with a buddy and my son about noon out on Utah lake today. The weather was very overcast but never really cold. We headed straight for bird island to see if we could get lucky. There was one other boat out there when we arrived. This was a special trip for me as today was my mother’s birthday that past away 5 years ago and she was an avid outdoorsman and we did a lot together.
Anyhow we started out on the east side with various baits including shrimp, worms, and chicken liver. For the first 30-45 it was dead then the chicken liver caught one. Just after I netted it for him I caught one with the shrimp tipped with worm immediately after. Another 10 minutes went by and liver won again. We waited 10 minutes and moved a little bit. We caught one more on the liver and then moved again.
Now just around 315 momma nature decided to be nice a let the light so shine and we saw the sun the first time all day. That’s just what I needed. In the next 20 minutes I caught 3 fish on shrimp worm combo. Funny that it happened right as the sun came out but I appreciate. But now I’m ahead of the captain of the boat 4-3 whoops. We fished for 5 more minutes and called it quits. We felt it was a pretty good day for 4 hours.

Thanks for the report. I plan on hitting the lake this afternoon. Hopefully they will have there feed bags on ahead of this big weather change. Will report later today.

Thanks for your regular updates on what's happening at Utah Lake and Lincoln Beach in particular. Did you catch any water temperatures?

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

Fished Lincoln Beach today between 1:00 pm and 4:30. Managed 5 cats before the wind monster ran me off the lake. Was windy all afternoon but got more aggressive around 4. Water temp was 51 degrees in the more protected areas. Mother Nature sure can be a mother dog!

I’m glad to hear you did pretty well as were safe. That wind is a nasty nemesis to fun out there. Thanks for getting the water temp as the depth finder on my buddy’s boat doesn’t work. But again I’m glad you got and found success with safety.
