Another Bear weekend
#1
Last Sunday, 8th got out in marginal weather and tried a few spots along the river in the Bird Refuge. No luck. Had not been up to the river near Corrine for quite some time so wife and I decided to go drown the last of our worms up there. From info given me by a coworker, we went to the part of the river that is just east of Corrine. Had never been down that road, but now know there is a small paved boat ramp, parking area, some benches, and fire pits in a small city fishing area. Further down river there are 2 or 3 more pull off's that allows access to the river for bank-tanglers, which is what we were that day.[Wink]
We actually managed to squeak out of the skunk zone with a couple small kitties.

This past Friday the 13th [mad] I was off work to take one of the dogs in for dental work, so I headed down to the bottom of the Bird Refuge. Ran into Ahi1953 at the bridges. While I was there neither of us had love from the cats. Was rather windy and a bit cold after that storm that went thru Thursday. I tried numerous spots along the bird refuge portion of the Bear, nada, went back up to river outside of Corrine, zilch.

Hope to get out again tomorrow, maybe give Willard the chance to hand me my first Willard skunk for this season....[:/]

Have you ever fished behind the dams , at the bird refuge? I haven't been there for years. Do they close that up after the water fowel season?

not sure what you mean by dams . think you are referring to the gates. If so then the answer is yes I have and no they don't , but you can only fish so far. there are posted signs . the blue dots in picture are the no fishing beyond points

That's the spot. Thanks for the picture. I guess that is as close as a boat can get to the gates. Got to get up there this year.

Ahi1953 answered that. First time I was in that area, I drove down past the blue dot on the auto tour before I realized it is a one way gravel road, and no fishing. Had to take that long one way loop all the way thru the water fowl hunting area [:/]
