After checking the prices of hook setters, I went on youtube and quickly made my own last year. Looking at it last night I had an idea how to improve it. I had several rod holder mounts in storage not being used. I mounted one to a 1"x4"x18" board. 4 screws=done. screw an eye-screw into the opposite end. Add a couple split rings and a cord and the only thing left is to bend and cut a coat hanger. polish the cut ends to prevent snagging or cutting line.
So if you have a spare mount, your boat won't miss the rodholder.
