Bring a 10’ plank at minimum! The edges are terrible. Ice was 14” everywhere we drilled. We were looking for perch but could find them. We fished 45 fow to 24 fow looking for them. Once we hit the 24’ the trout were everywhere. We ended up taking home 6 nice bows. Highlight was a 19” brown, was an awesome fighter. Trout were anywhere from literally just beneath the ice to 15’ down. The brown was right off the bottom. I repeat, bring a plank or your waders, the edges are bad

Thanks for the good report. What did you catch the trout on?

We were catching the bows on white squids, white tube jigs with red heads and green tube jigs all tipped with a wax worm or rainbow powerbait. Most of the action with 6-10’ below the ice. You could watch them come and take it. Was fun for the young ones to watch

Thanks for the update. Good job getting young ones out. Edges were great a week ago and found the Perch in 16 feet of water.

Caught the brown on an green ice fly tipped with a wax worm, I guess the technical term is drop jig. Had a kastmaster about 6” above it. Its my perch set up but I guess that brown was just as inticed. Interesting side note, the largest of the rainbows spit out a 2” perch once on the ice. Was curious, so after filleting, we cut open his belly and found more perch. Didn’t know bows would eat perch. Pretty cool

Yeah I was at Echo a few weeks ago hole hopping for perch and wasn’t finding any. I finally setup my jaw jacker and caught a few bows while I we running around. I didn’t know that I had caught a perch until I got home. (See pic)
Thanks for the report this season is winding down way to soon.
