Electric start
#1
How can I tell if a small outboard has electric start? How much would that add to the value of the motor?

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

The smallest motor I have heard of with electric start is an 8 hp. Not sure how much valve one with electric start would add, likely depends on the age and condition. I paid $900, for my 9.9 Yamaha with electric start. Mine has a red button on the face of the motor.

if you run electronics get electric start ,because of the higher charging capacity . if you not worried about charging batteries or keeping them charged manuel start is fine but the alt output is to low to keep anything charged ,don't ask me how i know [Tongue]

If you open the top cowling of the motor you should be able to see a small starter, if there is one.
Post a picture.
