Flaming Gorge
#1
I took the boat out on flaming gorge this last weekend. Fishing for Kokanee was good. All Kokanee were caught on Christensen Lakeshore tackle equipment. Trolling speeds varied from 1.2-1.7. Hopping to head out again this weekend.

Always enjoyed a spring koke trip to the Gorge usually in April. I'll be missing out on all of spring fishing and might get lucky for a late summer trip.  Cry

I just got back from the gorge. I went up really quick and my buddy came on my boat and was helping me work on my technique with my new to me rods. Fenwick FS 89 and an Olympic DS3 reel. It took me a while to be able to find an FS 89 to get it re-wrapped. When we went out Tuesday morning, we spent a lot of time messing around with the rods and not as much time bumping the bottom as we should have. That afternoon I got a five pounder. Called it a day and got up early the next morning and I only had four hours to fish before I knew the wind would come up. Ended up with a very nice 39 possibly stretch it to 40 inch. My guess is a solid 24 to 26 pound fish but a guess nonetheless, since my scale did not want to turn. That fish fought extremely hard and peeled line from 25 feet to 90 in no time. No Kokanee fishing for me this trip. There will be plenty of time for that this summer.
