Strawberry Outlook

I always go up to Strawberry for three or four days with my dad and my brothers with my brothers boat during the summer. Last year sucked. We usually go sometime in August. I'm wondering if there is an outlook out for Strawberry this year?

Todd, welcome to BFT. Sorry to hear that your trip last year wasn't up to your desires. I made several trips to Strawberry last year, and did well on all of them, of course some were substantially better than others. One thing about Strawberry is that one can usually find the fish, so it is a matter of finding out what will catch them after one finds them. I have sometimes had success going really small (we are talking Swedish Pimple size small) when they don't seem to be interested in the typical baits and lures.

Thanks. We have gone atleast once each year together and always easily all catch our limts and release a ton of fish. Last year just seemed to not be so good. We hit a few areas where we would get hot for a few minutes then it would just die. There have been times when we cannot keep the fish off our hooks. It was just an odd experience. I go up several other times every year with friends and others, and always do good as well. Hope this year is better. Would you recommend any particular small time frame that would be best to go?

The only times I have really struggled has been really early or really late in the year (on soft water), but I have learned some techniques to try that should improve my catch rate during those times of the year.
