boat preparation
#1
I used to own a boat till my wife gave it away. But i was always prepared when i went out .You might call me overprepared but these are the things i always had handy.

1)3 Charged batteries.I had a big amp one for my 95 hp engine a smaller one for my trolling motor and a extra one just in case of an emergency .You never know when you will need one or who will need one.

2)I carried an extra set of plugs and tools to change them cause you never know when you will have to replace them .And i made sure they were clean vefore going out.

3)Rope because you might have to be towed in or tow someone in.And excuse my language but dont be an ass about towing someone in it could be you next time.I was at yuba one time and my battery was defective and wouldnrt hold a charge i found this out after i took it back to the store. And 3 boats passed us by and no one would help us.So we paddled our way back and luckily the wind was blowing hard and pushed us in the right direction.

4)LIFE PRESERVERS,LIFE PRESERVERS, LIFE PRESERVERS AND CARRY A COUPLE EXTRA THEY ARE REALLY CHEAP AND ARE CHEAPER THAN A FUNERAL!

These things i never did without! There are other things too that i do in preparation for boating what are some of yours? How does everyone else prepare ?

Good ideas. Rather than an extra battery I carry a jump start battery. I also have a fire extinguisher, two paddles, a couple lights (one that plugs into a cigartette lighter adapter and a flashlight), a compressed air horn, and an adjustable wrench or two. I also carry two aluminum dock rods (they are the type that extend and have a hook on the end). Be sure to throw in a quality first aid kid. Some extra electrical wire has proven handy, along with electrical tape. Hull plugs are not expensive so carry a couple spares.
