Took my 2 girls out yesterday in the light rain. We first hit Farmington Pond but only stayed there for 15 minutes. The whole pond was extremly muddy from the rain.
Went to Kaysville ponds. Fished the second pond. Both girls landed catfish.....huge catfish. No other fish were caught. Fished for about 45 min.
They had a blast. So did I.

Glad you had fun Rob, how big were the cats?
sent a father and his sons to kaysville today. He came back 3 hours later to thank me, his boys caught and released 8 cats around 7lbs. WOW.

Believe it or not it was the first time ny of us have ever caught catfish. So I thought they were HUGE. One of them we got half way onto the bank when it just simply snapped the 6lb test and went back into the pond. The second one was bigger and we were able land it. I am not a great one with guessing weight, but I kind of compared it to a bag of sugar (5lb) and found it to be what I thought was pretty close. It was a fatty (and real ugly), and was longer than my elbow to fingertip. The girls had only ever caught trout so they thought they were rather disgusting (and shrieked as little girls will). Having never caught one before either I about did the same.
Also, had never fished the ponds before so didn't know what really to expect. We hooked on a worm and dropped it under a bobber about 16 inches. We tossed it out as far as we could and got nothing. I let the girls do the casting next time and they caught the fish about 10 to 15 feet from the bank.
Lots of fun, Im taking them back again this week.

I noticed that there are several ponds. Which one did you fish? Do they all have fish in them and what species are available?

Kaysville ponds are the ones you see next to the freeway. The best pond is the second from the park.
Worm below a bobber seems to be the best.
the bass fishing can rival any lake in Utah.
