Salmon fishing was UP and DOWN in East Sooke. One day it’s hot, the next day not. The best salmon taken this past week was a 32 lb spring caught at 75 feet between the Trap Shack and Beechey Head. Beechey Head was also productive with the majority of the fish taken weighing in the teens. Most fish were caught from 50 to 80 feet deep on large anchovy in a green scale teaser head. The marina also reported that anchovy in green glow teaser heads were the best bait overall this past week. If you want to troll artificial baits, try #4 Coyotes, #4 Titans or #5 Gibbs Gators in Glow White/Green or Silver/Green and for plastics the Mint Tulip Squirt was the best choice.
