Flaming Gorge at the End of May
#1
May wife and I will be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary on May 29. I am taking a week off of work for our Anniversary. We go camping and fishing every year at Strawberry. Our success has varied, but hasn't been great due to not having a boat to use. We have a boat this year. I am trying to decide if we should go to Flaming Gorge or Strawberry. No matter where we go, we will be on the water pretty much the better part of every day. This will be the week of May 24 - 31st. Any suggestions on where would be best at that point of the season would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Boy I'd be hookin it up to the Gorge and leaving Strawberry for that quick weekend or evening run if I had a week to spend draggin mac-a-dos into a boat! Besides,, I'm thinking the Smallies should be on the take by the end of May at the Gorge if I'm not mistaken.

I have always had more fun at Flaming gorge than I have at the Berry, More camping spots, more wild life, more of everything I think...dont get me wrong I love the Berry, I just loooooove the Gorge too...I have never left the berry with my arms hurting from casting onto the rocks and yanking smallies out of the lake, that may change I understand, but for the time being I love to go chase smallies and other fish at the gorge...what a rush...all I ever do at strawberry is troll around and release all the cutts....at the gorge, Ill wake up fry some eggs hit the water and eat fish fried for lunch, and dinner....mmm mm fresh on the lake. smallies are pretty good if you clean em right away...craws galore for appetizers, and big fat greek trout for the main course...if ya catch a biggun thats not too big....and eat his ass. mm mm ... yeah I would be going to Flaming Gorge for the week, keep the berry for weekend trips.

My buck fifty....

[red]Another vote for the Gorge. One of my favorite things there are the boat in campgounds. The fishing variety is great. After a week it feels like you are just getting revved up instead of ready to move on like a week of cuts and bows at Strawberry. [/red]
