Canal at redwood and 500 s....Utah Lake/Jordan river
#1
I finally tried the canal/river that I have talked about in my last post. No bites and nothing caught. I saw one ugly carp swimming around and that was it.

Then I took my mom fishing at Pelican Marina at Utah Lake. She caught the one and only fish...a mudcat on a worm. We then moved to the pumphouse area where we had many bites and caught a few more mudcats. I'm sure having trouble catching any channels these days. Any suggestions or good locations anyone? Also, at Licoln Beach, where do most of you'll fish for the big cats? On the rock dikes or some other area?

Try using big baits, that will decrease the amount of mudcats you catch, and give the channels enough time to find the bait before the mudcats rip it apart.

Go catch some suckers or carp and use them for bait, they are supposed to work quite well. Shrimp has been doing the trick too.

I wouldn't count on using big baits to keep the mudders off. Last week went down to the Jordan at Lehi Main St bridge I caught a 5 inch mudder on a 2/0 hook and a whole 4 inch shimp. That little mudder must have gagged on the shrimp because when I pulled the hook out the shrimp came out too the shrimp and the mudder were nearly the same size. LOL
