willlard parasites?

went to willard today caught a bunch of little catfish, couple of em had

these little grayish black wormlike things on them, bout 1/4 inch long

and bout as fat as a pencil lead. anybody know anything about them?

If the parasites were on the skin of the fish, they were leeches. A lot of the catfish in Willard have the leeches on their bodies because they stay on the bottom a lot. I don't think the leeches go into the meat so the fish should be Ok to eat. WH2

Most of the big channel cats I catch in Utah Lake have little leeches attached to their bellies too. They spend just a little too much time on the bottom sitting in the mud I think.

No harm done to the meat, but I doubt it's very comfortable for them!
