Henry's Fork River - June 10th, 2004
supplied by: [#0000ff]Henry's Fork Anglers[/#0000ff] FISHING: Good River Stage and Stream Flow [[#0000ff]click here[/#0000ff]] Box Canyon Good fishing. Hatches are light and sporadic. Caddis are bringing a few fish to the surface in slicks and just below the dam. There are a few Salmonflies distributed evenly throughout the canyon. The best flies are #6-8 Rubberlegs stonefly nymphs, #14-16 beadhead Copper Johns, #14-16 Prince Nymphs, etc. Last Chance Good fishing. Warm weather has stimulated some activity. Hatches have been light on sunny days, but evening Caddis hatches have brought fish to the surface. PMD numbers have increased and should continue to improve. The best flies now are #14-16 Spent Partridge Caddis in tan, #14-16 Emergent Sparkle Pupa, and #16-18 PMD dun and emerger imitations. Also, keep some #18 Rusty Spinners handy for morning and evening fishing. Railroad Ranch --Closed until June 15-- Riverside Campground to Warm River There have been good numbers of Caddisflies and there may still be a few Salmonflies lingering. Golden Stones are starting to hatch. A dry/dropper rig is producing well. Try a #8-10 Golden Stone dry with a #14-16 beadhead. Beadhead nymphs are producing well. Warm River to Ashton Reservoir Good fishing. Good hatches of Caddis and PMD's on warmer days. Beadhead nymphs and small Rubberlegs are producing well. From Ashton Dam Downstream Excellent fishing. We're seeing great hatches of Caddis and PMD's. There's lots of opportunity for dry-fly fishing. Late morning we're seeing PMD's and Caddis. In the evening, fish are continuing to surface feed on spent Caddis and Rusty Spinners. When there's no hatch, try a beadhead nymph rig, or a dry/dropper rig. Henry's Fork Tributaries Fall River is running high, but not overly off-color. Salmonlfies are starting to show up near Chester. Best bets right now are #4-6 Rubberlegs and #12-14 Beadhead Nymphs. Dry Salmonfly imitations should begin to produce fish any day now. Warm River is clear and fishing well. Try beadhead nymphs and attractor dries. Other small streams in the H.F. drainage are experiencing semi-runoff conditions and colored water. Check back for periodic updates. Henry's Lake & Island Park Reservoir A few fish are being caught at Henry's Lake. Overall, the Island Park area stillwaters have not been producing very well. It's hard to say whether the slow fishing is due to cold weather, or whether it's a residual effect from the last few years' drought conditions. As more anglers try their luck, the story may change.

Big Wood River - June 9th, 2004
supplied by: [#0000ff]Silver Creek Outfitters[/#0000ff] FISHING: Fair Big Wood River The Wood has been on the rise and fishing is tricky right now; weighted nymphs and a few streamers will take fish. There is still some more upper elevation snow left; another good session of warm days and nights will see peak runoff. Once the river crests and subsides, fishing will be as good as it gets. We expect to see some Green Drakes beginning to show by the third week in June. Synopsis The Brown Drakes made a strong showing last week and have dwindled since the weekend; however, expect some activity to continue on warm, calm nights. The Big Lost and its tributaries, The Big Wood, and Little Wood are fishable, but are still susceptible to runoff. Silver Creek is the best option in the valley with Baetis, PMD's and some Brown Drake activity keeping things interesting. Warm Springs/Trail Creek These tight, willow choked streams are running high and difficult to access. Your efforts will be better spent on other waters; don't forget about Dollar Lake and Lake Creek Lake if you're looking for a few hours of fishing adventures with the kids. Dollar/Penny and Lake Creek Lakes These waters have recently been stocked and are great destinations for beginners and kids. Try stripping nymphs and streamers through the water; prince nymphs, pheasant tails, and wooly buggers. Conservation The Wood River Land Trust is a non profit organization committed to conserving and restoring the Sun Valley area’s open lands, wildlife habitat, and recreational accesses. Some of the Land Trust’s successes include preservation of several local fishing access points along the Big Wood River including the Boxcar Bend Preserve (mid-valley), Cedar Bend Preserve (Hailey) and the Howard Preserve (Bellevue). Silver Creek - June 9th, 2004
supplied by: [#0000ff]Silver Creek Outfitters[/#0000ff] FISHING: Good Silver Creek The Brown Drakes came off strong last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and the hatch has dwindled since, but another bump in warm weather will bring a few more out. Crowds and thinner but can still be a factor, there's plenty of water to fish. Have a variety of spinners, drakes and cripples. Activity will be strongest on the warm, calm nights and close to dusk. Look for Baetis and PMD's during the day. Important Note: - Please use the Nature Conservancy's cleaning stations (dip tanks for waders and boots) along Silver Creek to prevent the spread of New Zealand mud snails, a non-native species that could ruin the fishery. Warm Springs/Trail Creek These tight, willow choked streams are running high and difficult to access. Your efforts will be better spent on other waters; don't forget about Dollar Lake and Lake Creek Lake if you're looking for a few hours of fishing adventures with the kids. Big Lost River - June 9th, 2004
supplied by: [#0000ff]Silver Creek Outfitters[/#0000ff] FISHING: Fair Big Lost River & Tributaries The Big Lost is fishable (351 cfs), but we expect flows to increase over the next couple weeks. Any level above 400 cfs gets too pushy to wade. If headed over to the Lost, bring an assortment of weighted nymphs, strike indicators, and some PMD's. The Big Lost tributaries are carrying some water, but a few cool days and nights will slow runoff and provide some potential fishing opportunities. This will all be fishing really well when water levels stabilize. Synopsis The Brown Drakes made a strong showing last week and have dwindled since the weekend; however, expect some activity to continue on warm, calm nights. The Big Lost and its tributaries, The Big Wood, and Little Wood are fishable, but are still susceptible to runoff. Boise River – South Fork - June 7th, 2004
supplied by: [#0000ff]Angler's Habitat[/#0000ff] RECORDED: 81 ° FISHING: Good South Fork of the Boise (Below Anderson Ranch Dam) Good Fishing on opening week was not that great but it is picking up gradually. High water caused the use of heavy nymphs dredged on the bottom but beware the Caddis and PMD's are on the way. Be prepared to still fish those nymphs but watch for bugs and rising fish. Fliesheasant Tail, 14-18, Copper Johns, 14-18, Prince Nymphs, 14-18, Golden Stone Nymphs, 8-10, Stimulators, 8-12, Royal Wulff, 10-14, Elk Hair Caddis, 12-16

supplied by: [#0000ff]Angler's Habitat[/#0000ff] RECORDED: 88 ° FISHING: Good Snake River (Below Swan Falls) Good With the temperatures up the fishing is up too. The smallmouth will continue biting as the summer goes on. Try different stripping techniques to entice the strikes of these great fighters. Watch for wakes in the surface, this will indicate fish working the area so be on the lookout. Flies: Clowser Minnows in black, chartreuse, and white, 2-6, Stayner Ducktail, 6-10, Crawdad Patterns, 2, Woolly Buggers in brown, black, and white, 6-10, Zonkers in white and olive, 2

The little river is a bit high but still the best bet to catch some nice salmon. Be sure to fish deep and take heavy enough equipment. I heard of one fish that weighed 26 pounds. The rest are in the 10 to 15 pound range. Flies: Popsicle, 2, Pink Bunny Leech, 2, Pink Spey Flies, 2, Flash Flies, 2
