Maybe pond Cat
#1
My neighbor got a nice cat out of there 2 nights ago. It weigh 18lbs. I didn't see it first hand but he had a picture of it.He said he was using shrimp with a worm on the bottom. I know they planted it at the beginning of June with 3 to 8 lb cats. The big ones are there if you can find them. I haven't had any luck even getting one cat,But I am going to try later in the evening.I am happy to report that the garbage hasn't been as bad lately. I didn't even have to clean any up yesterday and none floating in the water. The only other thing is, you have to kinda watch for the rats. Yes there are rats around the pond and they are pretty brave. I usually fish between the buildings because I have my younger grandkids with me and it isn't real deep by shore in that area.

Bring a rat trap along, catch a rat, and use it as kitty bait. Get it? A rat for kitty bait? You may catch the new state record. [Wink] LOL

Truth be known, G-pa used to tape into BIG LMB using white mice on the lower Provo River back when the had their boat houses down there. Of course, as I recall, he said that was in the 60's.

If I remember correctly, that is the same pond that the new state record catch and release came from.
The fish was released and I think it weighted 16 plus pounds at the time, I wonder if it is the same fish. Good to hear that people are cleaning up better around the pond. WH2

Yes the new record did come out of there. What is funny is it was caught by a boy just learning to fish. They had a youth group fishing and about his second cast he got the big guy. It was just after they opened it up to fishing.I bet it made a fisherman out of him for life. The first fish he ever caught was the record.

Oh giddy down. I searched the message board and found the address. It is also in the dwr urban pond hand book that I have.

Location:Clearfield from 1-15 take exit 336, head west; turn right on

State Street and head north; turn right on 500 E. The pond can be accessed from city property at 310 S. 500 E.

You can also fish between two mini malls. That is where I fish. Also if you go all the way around the lakeside shopping center into the back you can access it from there.

Easy there turbo....no need to get all fired up.

Maybe pond is in Clearfield, just off of main street, about 400 south. It is right behind the old Smiths, and right behind Charlie Charlies', a private club for members! Look for the Baskin Robins and the Papa Murphys pizza, and it is right there.

The fishing there isn't all that great...I've been a couple times and only caught a few gills, nothing to brag about. It is really a mossy pond. Good luck if you try it though.

We have gotten alot of blue gill out of there. I still haven't gotten a cat. The kids have also gotten some bass and when we first started fishing it we got some pretty nice crappie. But if the kids get bored I just put a litle hook and a small piece of worm on and they fish the bank for the little blue gill. I actually got a nice sized one out of there the other night. I was out aways fishing with a worm off the bottom and man did my line take off, I though oh boy a cat, NOPE just a big blue gill.Still in pursuit of the big cats. Maybe give it a try tonight. I live 2 blocks from there so evening fishing is nice.

Oh yah and no more grumpy one.
