I recently bought a Calstar 800L cork taped. People have been telling me to put electrical tape and others are telling me to put shrink tube on the cork before placing on the reel clamp. Personally, I found it hard to find the right size shrink tube. What works for you??? Please share with a puzzled fisherman. Thanks!!!

there several options you have, of those I would put electrical tape at the bottom of the list, it just doesn't have the abrasion resistance. 3M makes a vinyl nonskid tape you could apply over the corktape, or you could wrap the reel seat area with tuna cord and use some varnish or epoxy for a finish, my favorite would be shrink tube, it is available in a wide varitey of sizes and your best source would be an electronics supply house. You could also try badfish.com Louis has some new textured shrink tubing and a really good selection of rodbuilding supplies, good luck with your project.

2NA
