Bristol Bay Area Fresh Waters
Eastern Section Salmon: Kvichak River drainage south to Cape Menshikof: [ul] [li]King salmon angling in the Naknek is good. Alagnak angling is reported as fair. Alagnak chum angling is reported as very good. Water levels on the Alagnak continue to drop. [li]Approximately 5.4 million Kvichak River sockeye have passed the tower at Igiugig through July 19. Angling is reported as fair to very good. [li]On the Naknek River, note the June 1 - July 31 closures to all fishing from the markers around the outlets of King Salmon and Paul's creeks, upstream to the Alaska Peninsula Highway bridges. [li]On Big Creek, all waters upstream from an ADF&G marker at the Peon Hole (which is approximately ½-mile upstream from the confluence with the Naknek River) are catch-and-release only for king salmon. [/li][/ul] [ul][/ul]
Central Section Salmon: Nushagak/Mulchatna and Wood River drainages: [ul] [li]An estimated 111,764 Nushagak River kings have passed the sonar at Portage Creek through July 19. This run is well past its peak and angling is reported as slow to fair. No restrictions are anticipated on the Nushagak drainage king fishery this year. [li]The Nushagak River sonar started counting silvers on July 17, with an estimated 539 silvers through July 19. It is still very early for silvers and angling will not likely produce consistently until next week. [/li][/ul]
Western Section Salmon: Drainages from Nushagak Bay west to Cape Newenham, including the Togiak River: [ul] [li]Sport fishing for Togiak River kings is still reported as fair to good. Reports indicate that sockeye angling is fair to good. [/li][/ul]
Eastern Section Resident Fish: [ul] [li]Rainbow trout fishing should continue to be fair to good this week but may decline as the salmon continue to crowd the rivers. [li]Naknek and Kvichak drainage Arctic grayling, northern pike, and Arctic char angling is reported as fair to good. [/li][/ul]
Central Section Resident Fish: [ul] [li]Wood River Lakes system fishing opportunities are fair to good. Rainbow and Arctic char fishing reportedly remains fair. [li]Northern pike fishing is reported as fair to good in weedy bays and along lake and slough shores.[/li][/ul]
Western Section Resident Fish: [ul] [li]Opportunities for Arctic grayling, Arctic char, northern pike, and rainbow trout should remain fair to good throughout the week. [/li][/ul]
