Nice bow Fuzzy and thanks for the report. It has been a few years since the last time I fished Electric lake, does it still have a dirt boat launch or have they upgraded it? WH2

That's a nice fish fuzzy. Looks like you two had alot of fun. Looks like about the same spot that we were at a couple of weeks ago, when my neice caught a few rainbows, but not nearly as big as that. Take care!!

When I fished it years ago we trolled it in my 14ft aluim. boat. Did you try using any lures or just the minnows?

Ron, nice looking bow. Were you able to catch your minnows with your fish trap?

why yes i did use lures.. a black and white and a red and white kroc.. was working good.. a J9 black and white rapala or a rainbow 7" flotting rapala was working good as well.. with the repalas i was working them like a jerk bait. or some times just let them set on the top of the water for 20 to 30 seconds then twitch them and let it sit again them cutt's would come up and hit them just like a LM bass.. kinda fun to watch!! but if your looking to hit the bigger fish in E-lake minnows are the trick..note minnows are getting hard to come by in minnow traps at E-lake i cought some to fish with but none left over this time .. if you want to fish minnows up there you might need to bring some with you or take a cast net..

Those are some great bows fuzzy! Congrats on the nice fish and thanks for the e-lake update.
Why do you think the minnows are so scarce? Is that how they get this time of year?

well not sure why they are not going in the traps.. i think it's because there is so much zoo plankton in the water and they are spred out so much right now that they are not looking for the kind of bait thats in the trap.. but a cast net would get you a lot if your any good with one..you can see minnows all over the place in there they are just not going in the traps in any numbers.. some times i would get 20 fish in the trap and some times not a thing.. thats why i use 2 traps.. if one dont get any the other will most the time..

i use hotdog bun's rolled up in a tite ball.. some times i put powerbait in the bun just to add flaver.. i think it's more putting the trap in the path that the minnows are useing and they swim in just becaus that where they normley swim..not because of the bait.. it takes some time to get the hang of traping minnoiws in any body of water.. keep working on it!!

hey Xman the water is doing a lot better this year in E-lake than the last 3 years..it's only went down about 5 feet this year..and most of that has been in the last 3 weeks.. i think the good snowfall this winter and the rain we have been getting every day for the last 3 months has helped the whole area up there!! i cant rember how long it's been that i have seen the mountain's so green and lush.. i just hope it's a sign of things to come!!
as for how huntington lake is looking.. it's not doing as good as E-lake as fare as water go's it has went down about 10 feet this year.. but then it's not near as deep or big as E-lake is.. and i think that the water users how ever they are, are filling up cliveland res. and useing huntington to make up the water lose.. clevland is up about 20 feet from 3 week ago..
sorry guys i have not been fishing huntington for awhile so i dont know much about how the fishing has been.. but i'm sure that if you have a boat and troll flatfish of zipfish you will have a great day fishing there.. for tubers i would go with a gold or silver castmaster or spin-a-lure.. or a 1/4oz silver jig head tiped with a worm works great for tubey dudes.. as for fishing the shour at huntington i have never did very good this time of the year shour fishing.. but a worm under a bubble or on the bottom would be the fist thing i would try..
hope that helps X

I have my nephew and my dad coming in from miami and my nephew loves to fish but has no one to take him there so we will be fishing thursday through sunday .Those are the only days i can take off .Maybe even fish fishlake from shore dont know if its even worth fishing it without a boat.

if you want to do some fishing like fish lake but want to stay in the area of E-lake and huntington try joe's valley res. it's only 18 miles from huntington . some big splake in there.. just catch a chub cut it up and start fishing..

the fishing has been just as good from the shour or boat the last 2 times i've been there.. power bait works for the smller splake and cutt's.. as fare as i know there are splake, rainbows, albinos, cutt's, chub, and i talked to one guy that says he cought a chanle cat 2 years ago out of there.. but just catch a chub and use it as cut bait and you have a chance to catch a nice splake.. just rember there is a slot limit on joe's valley and you can only keep 2 fish and only one over 22in.
the slot limit is any trout from 15in to 22in must be turned back..

thats too bad it is down. but it sounds like it is fairing ok though. at least its not like echo or willard here. so i think ill hit it this fall. if its only ten feet down it will not have a dramatic drawdown before the fall storms hit im guessing. thanks for the info.
