I have been an avid angler for about 7 years on and off and still have yet to catch a Walleye.
I would like to get some advice on what lures Walleyes seem to be taking for you. Any advice?
I plan to hit Deer Creek this weekend and would like to give it a try for some of the eye. This way I can be better prepped and ready for next weekends UBER-FLOATilla @ Utah Lake.

deer creek is not my main fishing body of water, but I have always done well there on a chartreuse or firetiger jig tied with a worm harness fished low and slow by any ledges or outcrops just before and just as the sun comes up. If you are motorized troll rapalas I have caught them on hot chup taildancers and even blue back prism chad like you fish for wipers with. I usually catch bigger walleye at utah lake, but I have been able to catch at least a couple of walleye all year at deer creek. Talk to utwalleye if you want to know the most, chuck really knows his stuff,

Thanks for the tips. Maybe I should re-think my outing this weekend and get down to Utah lake and have a pre-outing outing to get to know Utah Lake a bit better and practice some tequiques for what works.
I fished Deer Creek a couple times earlier in the season and even then it was a tough one.

When i had a boat and fished D.C the one lure that got me into some eyes and SM was a pumpkin colored grub about 2inches long.I would jerk it off the bottom and just let it fall. And the bite would always come on the fall so you had to reel a little slack as it was falling and look at the tip of your rod cause the walleyes would just sit there with it and the smallies would take off with the grub as it fell.Hope this helps. And you can always use crawdads there for bait as long as you catch them there.Dont transport them cause its illegal.

I caught my first DC walleyes fishing pumpkin 3" colored grubs on a dropshot rig. I was at Wallsburg and it was about 11:30 am, back in July. Caught two in a row in about 12 ft of water. I haven't caught any walleyes by the island, just a bunch of smallies using the same rig. I also caught smallies using a splitshot rig, using pumpkin colored grubs.
