Let me tell ya, fishing here is a hell of a lot different than good ol' SC. These guys don't believe in live bait, strickly lures. What kills me is that ballyhoo are everywhere, but they don't use them. OK, for all you Guam natives, here's what i've come accross the last week. The Wahoo are real good along the drop offs between 40 and 100 feet. That might sound like a strange depth to all you east coast guys back home, but that's where you get the most luck around this island. Marlin are a little slow. I've been using 10 inch Yo Zuri deep diving minnows for the 'hoo's. They are awesome lures. Braid came out with a new lure that looks like it will kick ass. It's called the braidbuster. Mann bait company also came out with a lure that looks like menhaden. I'm going to order a couple of both and try them out. I'm also going to use some ballyhoo if I can get my hands on some. They are tempermental over here. Very hard to find, and they run in really small schools, atleast the schools that i've seen.

Thanks for the great report. It is always nice to hear how the fish are behaving in other parts of the world. What are you catching the Wahoo on???

The wahoo love those Marauder lures. (purple and black) Alot of the people here use like two hundred yards of steel leader on top to get the lure to dive, and the top speed i've seen the locals run is about eight knotts; to me, that's too slow. You can't buy a planer over here, which doesn't make any sense either. They make planers now that can hold up at 15 knotts. I don't use the Marauder's for that reason. I've been keeping it simple and it's been working great. I'll rock out some dark colored yo zuri's and call it a day. You don't want to use light colored lures here because the water clarity is unbelievable. A lure with a white, clear, or even silverish bottom would be alomost unseeable in this clear water. The dark lures stand way out. In dark water, the lighter lures rule. I keep my longer lures up close, I.E. in a school of bait fish, the larger fish are up front. I never run all the same size lures. I like running about ten knotts, you can't troll too fast for wahoo. Ofcourse, sometimes you have to kick it down a bit depending on what kind of bait or lures you're using. For instance, The Yo Zuri's i'm using, and considering the size tackle i'm using, anything more than ten knotts would be very risky. I don't use heavy tackle, I use 5 and a half foot Penn mariner stand up rods, penn 114 H wide body 6/0's with about 700 yards of 40 pound Ande. I see alot of people here running 80 pound test with 9/0 or bigger. Come on people, what kind of "sport" is that. If you are going to use a Marauder, they kick ass on the wash rod, close in to the boat. Atleast, from what i've seen. I tried to get some ballyhoo and try those out, but, like I said before, sometimes you find'em, and sometimes you don't.
