Mac OnTheFly!
#1
Thanks to BLM and others who gave me the advice (and optimism) to go to Bear Lake this morning to try to scratch the Lake Trout off of my list for species I need to catch on a fly.

I fished Cisco Beach. I saw a few fish come to the surface in the shallows, which got my attention. I started fishing around 8am and by 9:45am I scratched the Lake Trout off my list!

The fish was 28 inches and had a girth of 18 inches. Charts I have would put it in the 10 or 11 lbs range, but I don't have a fancy scale (like the ones in EVERYONE's Mac pictures), so an estimate will just have to do.

I was by myself, so I don't have a cool picture of me holding the fish, but I will attach the one I have.

I've never uploaded a picture here...but I will give it a try.

SO.. just three species left and I'm looking for help from folks, especially someone who might be going to Lake Powell for Stipers!

Good to hear that you got to scratch one off, i bet that it was a blast to land it on a fly. your pic didnt work, it may need to be resized a bit smaller

You are right... the pic was too big. I will make it smaller and put it up A.S.A.P.

[black]Congrats on the nice fish! By BL standards that fish might be a little lighter than the "standard" chart fish but it's still a nice catch on a fly![/black]

Great Catch! If you don't mind me asking, what kind of a fly were you using and about how deep were you fishing when you caught it? Not being a float tuber and a land lover, I have taught about doing a little experimenting with flies during the spawn and would like some info. Thanks for your report.
