Going to hit'em hard
#1
Tomorrow is going to be a good day. I've stocked back up on my trusty Braid Speedster's, purple and black that is, and put my shiney pin stripes on the side. They're just itching to be bitten verociously over and over again. My buddy gave me an early christmass present. He ordered me a couple of those planers that attach to the cleats. You're suppose to be able to troll speeds over 15 knotts with those outfits, I'm a little skepticle, but I figured what the hell. The planers that come with the kit are number 8's, so, I figure if they work they'll drag the old bonito's down to about 10 or 15 feet. Needless to say, an unfair advantage if they do work as well as they say. Effective high speed trolling requires 3 element of success: One of which of course is speed, two running deep, and three having lures that can sustain thier natural movements at those speeds. There aren't many lures out there that can get the job done. And, i'm not a top water fan. Braid Speedsters, Braid Marauders, and Yo Zuri Bonito's are, in my opinion, the baddest, most capable and stable high speed lures ever created. Out of that bunch, the speedster is the easiest to work with. It will troll at speeds of over 10 knotts bare, and it runs true and the action is amazing. I'd say, over all, the greatest swimming lure ever concieved. If you fish for Wahoo, and don't have one in your box, then you're an amature. And going to the local craft store and getting some reflective stickers and putting a little pin stripe on the side the lures works very well too. Since i've started doing that, i've been getting alot more hits. It's simple, Wahoo like the shiney stuff, just like any other top preditor in the ocean. The thing about the black and purple, and other dark colors, is that they contrast well at high speeds. The trick is that the shiney gets thier attention from a distance, and when they get in close, the true color of the lure allows them to see it better at the high speed. Plain and simple logic, and believe me boys, it works.
