ICE FISHING FOR WOMEN
#1
The Minnesota Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program welcomes women to experience fishing this winter.

On Jan. 7-9, the BOW program will be offering an ice-fishing trip to Mille Lacs Lake. Participants will stay on the ice in a fully equipped icehouse; bunks, bathroom, TV and cooking facilities are all part of the house.

"Here is a chance to live on the ice and fish when you want or when the fish are biting," said Linda Bylander, coordinator of the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program. "Everything is furnished including bait, food, fully furnished ice house and an instructor to spend the weekend teaching you the techniques of fishing in winter."

The trip is limited to the first five who register. Cost is $175 per person and is all-inclusive, except participants must provide their own fishing license.

Interested women can call 1-888-MINNDNR (646-6367) or locally in the Twin Cities (651) 296-6157.

"Last year this opportunity filled within a week. The women had a wonderful time on the ice. This year, we are offering the trip earlier to be able to fish for walleyes. If you are interested, sign up quickly for this event," said Bylander.
