Here's the latest report from the Rockport Ranger (taken from Doug Millers site)Ice at Rockport

After a week of rain what little ice there was pretty much disapeared. Last night was cold and some ice started to form. My prediction is that the lake will freeze but will not be safe for this weekend. Please use caution as the lake is very late in freezing this year. You can call for information:

[crazy]Looks like it's gonna be another week or so...Man, am I ever getting antsy. The good news (or bad news for those of you planning on going) is Doug's Perch party has been postponed or canceled altogether from Jan 22nd, so there will be good ice fishing for a little while longer till his huge crew of 2000 come through there.

-5 degrees right now at 8:00 am at jordanelle, the wind is dead calm and a few small patches of ice are reforming from the marina into the north bay.

Looks like we have for the next 5 days or so cold temps with mild-calm wind conditions. Let's hope a decent cap gets put on the percheries.

I left work today at 2:30 today and the wind didn't blow a bit today and to my astonishment there was about 80% skin ice coverage on jordanelle over the main body of the lake north of the marina. As I travel back and forth I really can't see rockcliffs or in front of the dam, but it was amazing that almost no ice this morning when the temps were below 0 and after a sunny, albeit cold day the lake skinned over. If the wind stays down this weekend and we dont get a snow blanket over it it should harden off pretty quickly with the temps up there.

[cool]AWESOME news, Phil. Thanks for the update! It's nice to have a bft member who drives by there every day to fill us in! Hopefully another week (or two at the longest) and we will be drilling holes on that killer Perchery!
