I checked the ice at Ririe Res on Sunday morning. The ice by the dam was hard and seemed pretty thick. I forgot my auger so I do not know the depth, but I walked out about 50 yrds from the dam and everything was still solid. There was a small puddle in the middle of the Res. That you could see from the truck. I went down by the boat ramp, but the ice was not thick enough to walk on safely at that time. It appeared to be less than 2" thick. Hopefully with the cold nights Ririe will be ready to fish by this weekend.

Windriver,
Thanks for the update. A friend of mine, who fishes up there a little more than I do, says he always targets February 1st to catch the ice at good fishing conditions. We will have to see!

My observations were correct. BSflies went out Monday and caught three cutthroat, but he said the conditions were scary by the boat dock. He only went out thirty feet, and he said that it was a situation where you hoped nobody walked too close to you.
