The site has been around for several year. I have really enjoyed using it in the past but it's been awhile since I looked at it. A couple of years ago I had gone to Yellowstone and had planed, as part of the trip, to hike into a smaller lake. I thought I knew where it was and how to get to it but could not find it. When I got home I called up the terraserver site and pinpointed the lake. I had missed it by going up the wrong drainage. It was obvious how I missed it when I found the lake using the terraserver site.

YOU CAN GO TO USGS. THEY HAVE SEVERAL OPTIONS, ONE OF WHICH IS TERRASERVER. TERRASERVER HAS SOME URBAN AREAS WITH COLOR AERIAL PHOTOS AVAILABLE THAT SHOW A LOT MORE DETAIL.

IT'LL SHOW YOU THE CHOICES: TOPO MAP. AERIAL PHOTO (WHICH IS THE BLACK & WHITE VERSION) OR URBAN AREAS WHICH ARE COLOR.

I PUT IN MY STREET ADDRESS FOR THE URBAN AREA COLOR PHOTO & ABOUT DIED. THERE WAS MY BOAT IN THE DRIVEWAY, MY DAUGHTERS TRUCK & HER FRIENDS CAR PARKED OUT FRONT. AIN'T SURE BUT I THINK I'M SORTA IN THE SHADE IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE MOWING THE LAWN.
