Causey report 2-5-05
#1
I took my son to Causey today. We were going to hit East Canyon but he decided he wanted to try for some kokes insted of rainbows. We should have went to East Canyon. The fishing at Causey was pretty slow. We only got 1 splake and a few tigers. I was marking alot of fish on the finder but nothing was biting. I think I saw a few schools of kokes (or the batteries in the finder are going bad) because I kept getting some wierd readings on the finder. If they were kokes they were not hungry. I threw all kinds of stuff at them and nothing would take it. We fished in the south arm and in about 25 feet of water. On the way out I talked with some other guys and they had'nt caught anything, so it looks like it was a slow day. I talked with a DWR officer in the parking lot and he said that it has really slowed down since the first of the year. The ice was still about 12" with bout 3-4" of frozen slush on top. The edges are really smooth and slick like the ice is pulling away and then refreezing at night. It didn't feel soft but who knows.

Thanks for the update. Causey tends to get a little finicky towards the end of the ice season. Too bad you couldn't put any kokes on the deck though. Good luck on your next trip out.
