Done some disappoiting searching for a fishing hole Wensday,First I hit the Southfork where it dumps into Pineview, the river looked great, but not a fish in site. Then went up to Causey, the ice is thick but soft and easy to drill.Fished next to an older gentleman just off the dam.He had an Ague view camera,we were using what a cricket, and meal worms, white curley tails, ice ants and were only getting strikes. We would watch the fish strike it on the moniter which was very exciting but he only had 1 taker and it was a 13 inch splake.Wathching the fish was on the screen was fun and they would kiss the lure but thats it.Does anyone have an idea for iceing those slake up there? PEACE!!!!

From all the reports from Causey lately, none have been good, the oxy level must be low because the ice has been on so long. This has made for slow catching, I'm sure Tubedude can give you more insight into this problem than me. I think you might do better fishing by one of the inlets where fresh oxy is coming in with the water, just a thought. WH2

If you are fishing the SouthFork river, it can be pretty good this time of year. Access might be tough with the snow. There is a stretch behind the Eagles that is good. Further up the canyon, the area around Camp Atoka is good. Farther up, if you watch the track of the river from your vehicle, you will see a large rock outcropping on the south side of the river. There is a very nice stretch between that rock and the curve where the river comes almost to the main road going upstream. Also, try the Idnependence Park area just a short ways down from the dam. This is a fun river to flyfish. Try nymphs such as BH Hares Ears, dark Stoneflies, BH Prince, BH Pheasant Tails, scuds, all in small sizes except the Stonefly. If you go on a warm day, you might find some surface action. Try tiny midge patterns like Griffith Gnats. Good luck!
