Anyone have any recent info on blue lake? We are thinking of going to Wendover this weekend. Be better if I can drop the wife at the slots, and I'll try my luck on the water.

Welcome to the site Clint. Up till a couple of days ago I had never heard of Blue Lake. I have been reading up on it and it sound like it would be a fun place to go fishing and to dive. If you get there let us know how you do.

Hey...I was out at Blue Lake last weekend.
Are you going after bass or bluegill or both? The gills are easy to catch...if you do bait try wax or meal worms, and bring along some crawlers too. You can switch off to keep them interested. It's basically a fish a cast if you do that. I didn't catch any bass last time, but have had some luck with them in the past with watermellon colored worms and twin tailed grubs in pumpkin color, I think it's called. Though I didn't catch any last time, I did see some very large bass while kicking around in the float tube. Most of the ones I saw I spooked out of the weeds or from under the bank, only saw one or two cruising around. If you fish the ponds around the main lake, bring waders so you can get around the banks, and keep in mind the fish typically hang out either under the banks or just a few feet off of them. The water is very clear so you can usually see the fish. Good luck on your trip! [signature]

I'll be out there Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday, I'll be in a blue Nissan pickup or a red and blue float tube. Bring a tube, its the only way to really effectively fish the lake....its so silty that you'll just sink if you try to fish it just in waders...same with the bluegill ponds. Well, you can fish the bluegill ponds from the bushes on the sides but you don't do as well as when you cast toward the shore from the middle and bring it back to you. If you show up, I'll show you a couple baits that Ive used with some really good success on both bass and gills out there. Fsh4Fun and his buddy and possibly his wife will be there on Sunday..... if you don't make it, I'll post up on Tuesday..... Won't have access to a computer cause I'm off for the holiday on Monday.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I typically fly fish for trout, but have decided this year to branch out and fish for bass, blue gill, and what ever else I can get to take my lure. I am waiting to see the weater sunday, so it might be later in the morning before I get there. Do you get a lot of scuba divers there this time of year? Thanks again for your input! Bass, bluegill and other sunfish can be a ball on a flyrod too. I don't know what the conditions are like out there, but if you take a trip to Pelican in late May or early June you can have a lot of fun with poppers, streamers, and even small dry flies. This will be especially true if the water comes back up to the normal levels.
