Painting lures/effectiveness
#1
For anyone that "repaints" or redoes the finish on their lures, how effective do you find your changes to be? Do you just sand and paint or do you have some sort of special techniques for your "right" color? I'm asking because I've sanded down and repainted an old Jitterbug, a ChugBug in a horrible color, and a Rebel PopR that never produced in the shad color for me. I've painted them all black, hoping to increase their effectiveness for night fishing, which I'm now almost sold on. I also sanded down the lip on the PopR, to see if the reduced splash helps at all. Have any of you tried this with your lures? Any replies would be appreciated because I would like to experiment more with my lures if the changes work for me. Tomegun, I know you and several others chase smallies and bucketmouths all the time so any suggestions you have for topwater or other lures would be extremely valued. Kayote, if you have anything you do that works well out on the ponds your way, chuck me a PM or something if you don't want to spill it all out here. I appreciate all the help fellas, I'm just trying to advance my pretty basic bass skills with a few tips and tricks for my lures.... thanks.
