Shark Fishing
#1
Anyone out there ever target sharks or are they illegal to fish for? I personally would be too scared to fish for them [sly]. Although it would be fun trying to reel in a 25 foot great white!

My son and I target sharks in the Pacific Ocean. We do our best to avoid Great Whites because they are still protected.

Other than that, there is only a regulation on Leopard Sharks. They need to be a minimum of 36 inches to keep.

We don't keep any sharks ever. We treat them just like Large Mouth Bass......Catch and Release only.

They do provide lots of sport and action on lighter tackle.

We have several species to choose from here and various methods to use to fish for them.

Of the more common species here, we catch Leopard Sharks, Horn Sharks, Mako Sharks, Thresher Sharks, Brown Smooth hound Sharks, Grey Smooth hound Sharks, Carpet Sharks, 7 gill Sharks, Hammer head Sharks, Blue Sharks and even Lemon Sharks.[cool]

That's awesome! The closest thing we have here to a shark is a northern pike (one got my hand this winter, that's what i get for not paying attention!). Well maybe a paddlefish in size but they are sort of wimps lol. I guess my 2lb test line wouldn't work for them eh?[laugh]
