Coolest Map Ever!
#1
Check out the map at http://maps.google.com/maps?q=willard,utah. MAKE SURE TO CLICK ON "SATELLITE" IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER for aerial views of anywhere. I used Willard Bay as an example, and you can see the details of the whole lake, marinas, etc. I can easily see my house when I enter my address. Use the zoom to zoom in close. Put your mouse on the map and move the map around for different views. I played with this for an hour last night. FUN! (You might have to have Java on your computer for it to work.) Don't forget to click on SATELLITE in the upper corner, or you'll just see a dumb map. Zoom in on the Willard Bay marinas and it's amazing how low the water was at that time. No wonder we couldn't launch! Enter "Bullfrog, Utah" and take a plane ride over the Bullfrog marina. It sure puts everything into perspective.

Interesting satellite image, I wonder when the Willard photo was taken. I noticed it was dry land in the south marina but the north marina looked like it had water in it. I also noticed another island starting to come out of the water a little north east of "The Island", if that makes any sense. Thanks for sharing that link MC.

Another really cool site is Terraserver-usa.com, you can view both topo maps and ariel photos. You can even use GPS coordinates to look at the ariel photos. Really useful for all sorts of reasons. The thing I like about this one is that it has a feature called "urban areas". This gives a very detailed photo of the major cities in the U.S., Salt lake included.

You should try www.keyhole.com. It has a 7 day free trial. All you have to do is punch in an address and it pulls up a satalite image of the address and surronding area.

Hi everyone! [Wink]

Jumpin' Catfish, that's totally prodigious! Between the 2 programs you can really learn a lot. The difference between Willard Bay South Marina in July, 1997 and September, 2003 is amazing. I haven't been to the south marina yet, so I didn't know it had 3 ramps, so see, I learned something. South marina would definitely be better in a high wind, with less open water. I checked out my own property in Highland using the Urban view - - really neat, I can see lots of details, and I can even use that to help lay out my new sprinkler system. Thanks for letting me know about Terra-Server USA! [Wink]
