Willard whipers
#1
Went out to willard yesterday for the first time this year and got into whipers like we didn't miss a beat. It was a blast and for the first fishing trip a total surprise for me and my wife to get into the fish like we did. The biggest two came from the middle of the lake and the rest were along the dike. We kept the two bigest fish for dinner and let the rest go I will try to put a pic in for you guys to see.( sorry about the dirty sink) lol.

I'd like to try catching a wiper or two but have never fished for them. I'm not asking for your secret lure but what are some of the basics I need to have to catch a wiper?

Thanks

From research I have found if you use anything from spinners to crank baits in silver/blue pattern you will get into them.

On another note.

DWR Stocked 180,000 Wiper fingerlings into Willard end of last year. I am sure alot of those will end up being a food source but there will be survival rate in there. Couple years and there may be some monsters.

USE SHAD RAPS, PRODUCER,S AND DEEP DIVERS IN SILVERS, BLUE,S AND WHITE PERL. LAST SPRING 3 OF US BOATED OVER 40 WIPERS IN 8 HRS. WE TROLL ABOUT 2.6 TO 3.0 MPH. AND MAKE FIGURE 8,S AROUND AND THREW THE ACTIVE FISH. ONCE WE PICK UP A FISH WE WORK BACK AND FORTH THREW THE SAME SPOT. ON THE DAY I SPOKE OF WE FISHED LESS THAN A MILE OF THE RES. WE EVEN TOOK A 2 HR BREAK TO HUNT FOR SOME EYES. MY 8 YR OLD BOATED 17 FISH ON HIS OWN POLE. DONT THINK THAT APPLE FELL FAR FROM THE TREE... CANT WAIT TO GET HIM OUT THERE AGAIN.

I added the pic to a private gallery on my website that automatically resizes photos to 400 pixels wide which is recommended for use on here.

You can go to http://www.jasc.com and get a trial version of Paint Shop Pro and resize with this editing application. Or you can go to http://www.imageresizer.com/ and download Mihov Image Resizer which is freeware and is mainly for resizing photos.

Wish my pontoon went faster than 1.7 mph. Guess I better practice letting out heaps of line then realing while trolling. Smile
