The salmon catching may not be much of a deal here in southern California south of Santa Monica Bay but for the guys in upper SoCal, central, and northern California the fishing is...... if not 'ON' at least starting to gear up.
Although we get an occasional salmon from the canyons around Newport, CA (Whoa be careful if you catch one there as they may be out of season.. and there's that little thing about a salmon stamp) and some from SM bay, I guess the more consistant bite only comes down south to around Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands.
I've fished the San Francisco style of salmon fishing in the salt and I'm never gonna be a fan of either their system on the water or once back at the dock. .[/size]

[size 1]Still..... a great experience on the water.
Salmon from the north, albacore from the south..... pretty interesting time with yellowtail and white sea bass in the middle.
