I plan on improving my fish cleaning board. I want to use something I can rest over the sink and also use outside when the weather is nice. The commercial boards available are a bit too small, and have a small working surface. I already have a clip to mount on the board but need some suggestions for the type of wood to use. How about treating the wood? Any ideas out there?

Personally i wouldnt use wood because it can hold and grow bacteria for a long time. I would suggest some kind of plastic cutting board.I use to work in the food industry and wood is a big nono![pirate]

If it doesn't have to be wood(and I would not recommend wood for what you want to do in the house), Harbor Freight in SLC has the white(I think some kind of acrylic or plastic) hard PVC kind of cutting boards for pretty cheap. I just got a three pack of them there - the large one is 17 inches by 11 1/2 inches by 1/2 inch thick - they cost me about $10 for the three of them. They are food grade and that particular kind of material can be sanitized and sterilized - it's also dishwasher safe.

[cool]Send TubeDude a pm. He has an awesome one that he made himself. He's actually posted pics of it several times in the past, but if you send him a pm, he'll probably give ya all of the details.
