Pineview report 5/18
#1
We got on the water around 6:00 pm on the east side of pineview
north of cemetary pt. Water was calm and looked fishy. I caught a 15" smallie right off the bat and then things got tougher for me. Windknot was picking up a couple smallies on the other side of the bay. Water temps and conditions are optimal RIGHT NOW!! I had one nice sized tiger check me out but I couldn't get him to strike.
It's so wierd when they stick their heads above water and look at you. They look like alligators when they do that.

I would love to put some digs in about Windknot falling out of his pontoon and losing his shirt but I'm just not that mean.[angelic] Besides I thought he was wearing a woven hair sweater anyway...

Sorry BC...No thermometer with me. I was bare legged though and it wasn't uncomfortable. I'd say water temps in the mid 60's.

Thanks for the great report. What were targeting? Tigers I imagine? Sounds like I might have to go up there Saturday with the fly rod. What time of day would you recommend?

I was targeting Tigers but using lures small enough to pick up an occasional bass. I've always done better in the evening but have only tried mornings a couple times....

Good Luck.

Water temps are in the mid 60's.
I was there last weekend too. See your mantua querry.

Smallmouths are biting. But, It wasnt until the middle of the day for me. 1:00 pm they got rowdy and turned on.

Tube jigs were the ticket.

I would guess that this weekend will be stellar for smallies up there. Nice ones too. The bigger fish were moved up last week, and this week they should be hungry and willing.

I would be there this weekend, but I am going to mantua friday and will be at hyrum in the club tourney along with moose on saturday. Working sunday.
Next week for sure.
