Thursday Utah Lake
#1
Headed out to Lindon BH with Coldfooter Thurs. afternoon. Had kind of a late start, needed to do some maintance on the truck.
Launched the boat idled around the harbour for a few and broke the throttle linkage. Dang what a start to a fishin trip. Well we headed out slowly and decided to stay close. Clodfooter hooks up with a nice Channel within minutes. I would guess around 5 lbs. then a couple of muddies and another channel. While he's catching fish I'm catching a few rays. The Ut Lake curse is still riding on my back. We move to a new spot and wham coldfotter strikes again. Now I still am doing nothin more than swatting nats. I start throwing jigs for the eyes ...........nothing Back to soaking some bait for the kitties. We move again and sure as well you know coldfotter strikes again. Now its starting to get late in the day and the cats, bass, and carp are rolling and jumping everywhere around us. Coldfooter hooks up again, didn't seem to matter where he threw his hook the kitties just came right in for him. Finally I hook up the jinx is off. Not the greatest fighter I thought I had a muddy on. It turned out to be about a 2 lb channel. Now the jinx is broken, look out Ut Lake. LOL Had a great time if you haven't had a chance to go fishing with coldfooter, make him an offer. He's quite the character (in the best of ways) and fun to fish with. Thanks Don for the kittie tips and a great day on the water.

Glad to hear the skunk is off. [Smile] Where from the harbor did you head to? Did you go to the north around that area or over towards AFH? Or did you guys head out south around the reeds & past the bubble up?
Fencekid & I went out Saturday. We went first to the bubble up. We caught a couple of walleys, cats, & of course the muddies. We fished there for about 2 hours and then we left and headed over to Bird Island. It was a great drive over and since we hadn't taken the boat from LBH to anywhere else but the bubble up we decided to give it a try and see how long it was.
It took about 30-40 minutes. Most of the island is under water. There were boats way up against the island (see pics). Only thing caught were muddies. Only saw about 5 other boats. After another hour or so we headed back to the bubble-up and caught some more of the usual.
It was the slowest fishing we've had yet this year. That's the reason I'm asking. We need to find more good spots to cover on UL. This was the first year we've fished from LBH. I love UL 'cause it's close. It doesn't take us a hour just to get there. Unless we go to Lincoln Beach. Boy! is that a drive. But since we started fishing from LBH we haven't been over to the South much. Any info on the spots? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

But like you pointed out, yer jinx is gone! Now its time ta open a real big can of whoop-A on the kitties.[Wink]

AA we just went to the bubble up. I had a throtle linkage arm break while in the harbour. So all I had was idle speed, making any trips on UL very long. Bird island would have been a half day ride that day LOL. Late in the day the kitties started rolling next to the reeds and we picked a couple up over there also.

[cool]AA, I think CBR and I might have seen you guys at the bubble up. After we had slow fishing north of the harbor, we cruised on out to the bubble up, and there was a really old boat (probably 1960's model I'm guessing) with a blue tarp around the top of it with a few people fishing with a ton of poles in the water. Was that you guys? If it was, we were the dudes with a toon and tube. Didn't know you guys were bft members or we probably would have chatted a bit more.

I later found out why the fishing was so slow last weekend when I was driving back from Layton that night my wife noticed how "pretty" the moon looked, cause it was FULL. I'm sure those fishies were chowing down all night long, and weren't that hungry or active during the daytime. I'm going to watch the moon phases a little closer next time and try to plan my trips around the full moon or fish at night during those times.

The Toon was towing the tube ?

We had small aluminum with one seat on the rear. Two in our boat.
The blue tarp boat seemed to be doing pretty well.

[cool]Yeah, that was us. Were you the guys that snagged that big 'ole carp next to us north of the harbor at the creek?

No No carp We just have a 10 aluminum with an electric trolling motor no outboard. I seat sitting up high in the back. We moved in next to the bouy at the bubble up when the first boat left. We left at about 10:30 ourselves.
