Roads Are Washed Out
#1

AF Boat Harbor is closed due to the roads being washed out. There might even be some stranded folks there. This morning the son & I drove over there and the water was spilling over the road. I guess not a couple of hours later, the road washed out. I heard that an Escalade was washed into the river. I hope all is alright.

I was at AFBH at 5:45 am on Sunday and the nothing was biting at all. We packed it up and left at about 9:00. I sure am glad we didn't hang around any longer.

Yo Clif,

I have been watching that river personally daily since I live near there and I like to measure the water levels. That river was really roaring down along the road on the way to AFBH. It was so loud and you could feel the vibration of water running at the bridge before you enter the harbor. It was very violent churning mass of water.

Apparently the volume of water and its power got to be too much for that road next to it that it created a surprise sinkhole which sunk a Escalante and two other people on the road nearby, which all victims were ok with minor injuries.
My guess would be the water seeped under the road where the weight of the Escalante caused the road to give in.

It gets worse? Yeah it will get worse... there's a Grove Creek reservior which is like a catch basin above the City of Pleasant Grove is nearing its full capacity and the city and its residents have made a river out of sand bags to curtail its run-off. Old timers have told me they have never seen it this full, and there were waterfalls showing up on the Pleasant Grove's mountians... The springs have sprung a litany of leaks all over![shocked][pirate]
