Memorial Flaming Gorge Update
#1
Well I took the family to the Lake for the holiday and the trip was O.k.. due to the fact that we spent Friday night in the hospital with my 2 year old daughter that fell out of the parked truck and split her eye open... after 6 stiches we were back to manila. Now to the Highlight's In the two Mourning trip's that I went out (Fri-Sat) I boated 31 Kokanee of which 13 were over three pound's and 2 of the 13 were 4.11 and 4.29 so I am excited to see the fish this big this early. There were alot of people there but still plenty of water to spread us all out and have our own fishing area's. I also caught 2 mack's one went 9.2lb's and the other was six something.
Can't wait to get back up there again in two week's!!

we had a good family trip as well. camped at antelope flats- for the last time. (not too great of facilities, and the fish cleaning station was closed) i have a few other complaints about that campground, but will spare bft of them! one nice thing- the ramp wasnt too busy!

we caught only around 15 fish total for three days of fishing. we got three small macs and 12 pretty nice kokes. we tried to fish a different area every day so that we could find some fish- it didnt work out this time. but all in all we had a good trip and got to fish a lot of new spots.

the place we usually do well in- linwood bay- was too muddy to fish. we didnt do well in the red cliffs area. we did best, but still not great, in the pipeline area. we went up to the south anvil area monday morning, but got rained off the lake before we could really hit it hard.

did anyone else have a tough time? we watched a truck dump thousands of small rainbows off of the ramp on friday morning. we figured the macs were probably having a hay day. tried to troll flatfish and rapalas along the shores with no luck. maybe theres just too much feed in the lake right now! i dont know.

we did have a fish fry saturday night that was awesome. we used dutch ovens to deep fry the lakers we caught as well as some my uncle had picked up. also we cooked a few kokes. in my opinion- the only way to eat fish is a fillet, deep fried in a good batter! not bad eating for camping!
