South Fork of Ogden?
#1
Wondering if there are any people in here that frequent this river for fly fishing? I've been a few times. It looks so good, but I never do that well.

Is there a better section, time of day, flies, ect.....
I observed many caddis and mayflies flying around yesterday, but I was only able to catch two fish. I also tried nymphs with limited success.

Anyway, thanks for your help. My email is fishwthjk@aol.com.

I'm not much of a fly fisherman, but I was wondering how the river is running? The last time I was up there it was going crazy!

I hit the S.F. Ogden last Saturday for a few hours and did alright. The river is running at about 160 cfs which is still higher than normal, but the water was fairly clear, but still high and swift. On weekends the campgrounds are infested with people, so your best bet is to stay away from them. The water was pretty cold, so I used waders which allowed me to cover more water without numb feet. I was using small spinners in pocket water, and slower stretches along the banks. The more water you cover, the more likely you will hook up with some fish. I tried nymphing, but the water was moving too fast, so bringing along a spinning rod is a good backup plan. The brown below was the nicest of the day.
