I'm thinking of going catfishing on the Jordan River west of Lehi, near the shores of Utah Lake, this week. Last year about this time, the fishing there was pretty good, but I'm wondering about the water levels this year. Has anyone been fishing there recently? How high was the water in the river, and how was the fishing?

I swung by the pumphouse yesterday afternoon. There were about half a dozen groups there fishing. Most had a few Bullheads. Nothing super fantastic but nothing to be ashamed of either. It looked like they were using worms or commercial catfish "stink bait." One guy had a tub of chicken livers, but I dont know if he had caught any.

Thanks! That's helpful information. Did you happen to go upstream from the pumphouse, toward the lake? Last year the best fishing seemed to be in the reeds and grass along the river bank there. This year, I'm afraid it may be underwater.

I haven't been down there for a week or two but if they open the gates over there west of the pumphouse by the little park, there will be some pretty good fishing. Fish off the rocks just below the gates with a bobber about 4' -5' deep. The lake is a good two, maybe 3 feet higher than the river was the last time I was there but the gates were still closed. I suspect they will be opening the gates any time now if they haven't already. They probably won't run the pumps until later this summer.
When the gates are open, the white bass fishing can be unreal. Use small tube jigs & cast to the current edges & hang on.
Good luck & willya lemme know if you try it & how you did?
Thanx,
GEEZER

We went yesterday morning (6/29), but I don't have much to report. The gates were still closed, and the pumps weren't working, so the river by Inlet Park was pretty still. We fished there for a while, but didn't get any bites. The portion of the river between the gates and the lake, where the fishing was good last year, was difficult to get to this year. Last year, there was a neat little trail alongside the river with lots of places you could fish from. This year, all that seems to be underwater. We followed the trail for about 50 yards, and it suddenly was covered with water. Besides that, the grass has grown so thick alongside the river that we couldn't get close enough to fish. I would recommend a raft or canoe to anyone who wants to fish that portion of the river. Maybe there are fish in it. I don't know. I came smelling like skunk.
