Made it up DC saturady evening for a quick fishing trip with the wife.We started out trolling by the island for EYES with no luck.After All the skiers staterd to leave we started fishing for smallies.We only boated 5 smallies ..wow.. I am glad that I am not the only one having problems finding the fish this year at DC. It is night and day compared to last year with the high water mark. I think the reaminder of the summer is going to be a tough one up there .But on the bright side it will make fishing better in the long run.

I too was disappointed last week but I think I was fishing the wrong area, I'll give it at another try next week and see what happens. Thanks for posting your report, at least you caught some smallies. WH2

We hit DC on Sunday @ 7:30 and was pretty disappointed in the amount of salad bar that was at the north end of the reservoir.
Too much grass and sea weed to do any trolling where we usually do - not that we didn't try....
Once you got away the salad bar the wind was picking and we did managed on nice eye in the 17" range on a crankbait. Nothing on the bottom bouncer.
This year might be the year of the jig or slip bobber... instead of crank bait or bottom bouncer...

What kind of jigs do you like to use for eyes up there,and what are you looking for such as structure or depths on the fishfinder to jig for eyes.I have not done much jiging for eyes but I would love to learn.I have caught a few this year on grubs fishing smallies in about 25ft of water by the rocky shore lines.Any info would be great! Do you tip your jigs with anything?

I WAS ALSO AT DC SUNDAY. BEATIN UP THE EYES. THAT WIND HAMPERD EFFORTS A LITLE WITH STAYING ON THE SCHOOLS. BUT THEY WATED THE JIGS. MY 9 YR OLD BOATED A 15 INCH EYE HIS FIRST CAST OF THE DAY. ONLY KEPT 5 EYES. JUST CAUGHT 1 PERCH. SO NOW IT APEARS THERE ARE ONLY 2 YR CLASSES OF PERCH IN THE RES. 8 INCHERS AND 13 TO 15 INCHERS. FISH ARE HOLDING IN 9 TO 13 FT.
