[#505000]What I'm about to say is going to likely make me unpopular with a few of you (those who own/use PWC's), but that is the price one pays for expressing their opinion I suppose. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I used to really be down on all the goofy enviromentalists who want to ban PWC use on all waters. The more I read stories like this, and experience the noise and the rudeness of most every PWC user I have met the more I think they need to be strictly regulated, or outright banned. Not because I want to wear hemp clothing, sing kumbya, and hug trees, but because this small elitist group of "A-holes" have no consideration for others.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I'm not worried/interested in how much pollution these things do or don't make. I can deal with the "noise pollution" to an extent but couple it with the rude behavior and these things have got to go.[/#505000]

[#505000]Ok I've ranted enough. I'll just shut up now. [mad][/#505000]

Well said!

You know... it all boils down to CONSIDERATION OF OTHERS! That separates the tolerable from the intolerable. Unfortunately, in today's society, most people are "out for number 1" and could not care less about others around them!

I mentioned this when CP started the pet peeve string, but I'll say it again because I just don't get it. It just doesn't make sense to me that everytime the PWCers are out they alway want to set up shop 50 yards off of shore. I've never been on a PWC, so maybe I'm wrong, but it makes sense to me to use the main body of the lake; it's more open, fewer obsticles, less traffic, etc. I really think we could all coexist with some sort of 100 yard wakeless area off of all shores in every lake. I know there are rules in place and enforcement is often the issue. I know this leaves out the main lake trollers, they are still going to get bum rushed. I am really trying to keep and open mind and understand that they have as much right to the lake as we do, but even when I step outside my biased views I still see them doing the majority of the encroaching.
I truely believe some changes need to be made. I've been watching the board for a while and listening to peoples comments and a lot of people are really hot over this issue and for good reason. I'm starting to think that if something isn't done we could be seeing some escallation with the fisherman/PWCer altercation and someone is going to get hurt or killed. If it means a few more dollars for a state park pass or some sort of rec tax to pay for more enforcement then so be it, but I would hate for it to cost someone their life to make the beurocrates realize there is a problem.

As much as I agree with the PWC ban, it's not going to happen. The state parks are heavily funded by recreational boaters, waterskiers, etc. Those parks are oriented more towards recreational boating and watercrafts than fishing for sure. For example, most parks have plenty of boat docks and no fishing docks whatsoever. Further they don't allow people to fish off those boat docks even if it doesn't interfere with boats. Clearly, support is more heavy for boaters and jetskiers on the state level. Rockport Dam is another problem area. Those idiots seem to always want to travel across the face of the dam at a zillion miles an hour regardless of people shorefishing.

I propose a pwc zone!!! We get some buoys and mark somewhere in the middle as a pwc zone. Then we put a dummy in a old rickety aluminum fishing boat, give him a pole, and anchor him inthe middle. Let the games begin! Like the proverbial'' moths to the bug zapper,'' the pwc's will disappear from the prime fishing areas to go after the poor defenseless fisherman in the middle of the lake...the bonus ( or ZAP if you will,)is if we make the pwc zone small enough...maybe they will take each other out from time to time. When the fishing is slow there will always be entertainment.

[cool] i think that all ideas are great the bad thing is ,is that these type of ppl would just use anything put out for a zone of some kind as more obstacles to race aroundi may be a lil harsh on this subject but and yes they have as much right as me to the area but that does not give them the right to run havoc over everyone else there almost everyone there that day was a lil p.o.ed even some gal and her kids that live nearby were out for a walk and stopped to talk she can see the harbor from her house and said that almost daily she sees and hears of the ignorance and rudness of some of these groups ill be quiet now thanx for the replys

i was just having the same conversation with fishhound as to why pwc/wakeboard boats feel the need the run along the diks at willard when they have the WHOLE middle of the lake to do so i just don't understand the mantality unless they just want somebody to say "look at me " !!!!

Oh and of course what got this conversation started was a wake boat cutting in between us and the dike inside the "50 yard zone"

Even better, inside the PWC zone we can set depth charges and mines. Booby trap all the cones as well as the dummy fishing boat. That way, they can get blown sky high for their crimes!![Tongue][cool]
