Know how to measure the length of a fish
#1
For those who keep fish on bodies of water that have a slot limit make sure you know how the state defines the length of a fish. From the 2005 regulations:

"Length measurement" means the greatest length between the tip of the head or snout and the tip of the caudal (tail) fin when the fin rays are squeezed together. Measurement is taken in a straight line and not over the curve of the body.

Right, Kent, that's the caudal (tail) fin not the area between the dorsal and anal fins that is squeezed! You don't want the trout to look like walleyes when you're done with them![Wink]
